The Oakville Master’s Swim Club will be holding its annual one hour continuous length swim for charity
during the week beginning Sunday morning, 26 February at White Oaks Pool. This year the Club members have selected the Oakville Foodshare Food
Bank as the beneficiary for the donor funds it collects. The length swimming challenge will consist of each master swimmer
participant swimming continuously for one hour to determine how many lengths he
or she can achieve in the prescribed time period. It is expected that, on
average, the participating swimmers will swim from 2000 meters 3000 meters which translates into 80- 120 lengths of the pool at White Oaks Secondary School. Given the differing
ages and abilities of the club members some will achieve more, some less. During the weeks leading up to the lane swim event, Club
members will be soliciting donations to further the work of the Food Bank
either as pledges for each length actually swum or as a straight cash donation.
The Food Bank is a registered charity and it will issue tax receipts for each
donation received over $10. The lane swimming for charity event will take place at White Oaks Pool
over three separate days: Sunday, 26 February beginning at 8am Wednesday, 29 February beginning at 8:30pm Thursday, 01 March, three sessions, 1st one at 10:10am, a 2nd at 11:20am
and a 3rd at 9:25pm. The public is invited to drop in and watch. Donations will be gratefully
received at White Oaks Pool during the course of the five swim sessions.
